Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

What's the difference between tax preparation and tax planning?  Tax preparation is the preparing the return after the year is completed, retroactively.  Tax planning is active and current planning through the year allowing time for changes prior to the tax filing.

When is the best time of the year to start tax planning?  It is recommended to begin your journey from Q2-Q4 of the calendar year.  Ideally, the journey would be completed prior to the year end to allow time for proactive changes.

Can you help me calculate my estimated taxes owe and estimated tax payments?  Yes, this is a key component on our tax planning engagements.

Should my current CPA be providing strategies?  Typically, the tax preparation services do not include tax planning.  Clients are encouraged to actively directly the CPA to explore the specific opportunities.   Most clients wait until tax season for these strategies, but are very limited by the options they can utilize.  Timing and being proactive is key.

I'm getting ready to retire, can you help me with the year over year outlook planning?  Yes.  We support our clients with the retirement outlook on their distributions and retirement funds on the tax planning calculation components.
